Symptoms of Sewer Drain Clog

1,300

Considered as a plumbing emergency and a distinct health problem, a sewer drain clog is a very serious problem. Because sewer water has no place to go, it will come back up into plumbing system in one way or another. You shouldn’t use any of the plumbing in the house until the stoppage is cleared.

Signs of sewer drain clog are:

Particular Reactions When Using Fixtures

Places where you have to look when your sewer drain clog have unusual reactions to using plumbing fixtures:

• Toilets: In your house toilets have the most direct pathway and the biggest drain line, and because of that you will notice it there. Toilets won’t work correctly if the main line sewer is blocked.

• Tub and shower: When the other drains are affected by a major line stoppage you should look at the tub and shower. They lie at a lower level than sink drains. You should check whether the tub and shower drains are blocked if you suspect drain clog.

• Flush the toilet: If your toilet is backing up water when flushing the toilet bowl or water coming up into the tub or shower that is a sign of sewer drain clog. If the water can’t go down the sewer drain, then the water comes up the pipes at the lowest point, which is the shower drain.

• Use the sink: One of the reaction is air captured in the plumbing system. You can do this by running water in the sink closest to the toilet for a few minutes. If you notice the water level in the toilet is rising or if the toilet bubbles, then the block is in the main sewer line and not in the toilet.

• Washing machine: When the water is draining out of the washing machine force the toilet to overflow or water backs up into the tub or shower, it is a sign that the central sewer pipe is clogged. Note: Case like this can just be a problem with your washing machine and shower and not a sewer drain clog.

This is likely a problem with a washing machine and not a drain pipe if the toilets are flushing fine while this occurs.

Drainage at the Clean-Out

You have another way to recognise a sewer drain clog if you have mainline clean-out. First, you have to find the clean-out if you don’t know where it is. Remove the cap from your clean-out. Make sure that there isn’t any waste or water in the clean-out that is backing up. If you see the water standing in the pipe or flowing up from your clean-out, that means that you have mainline sewer blockage.

When you find sewer drain clog, you should get on clearing it. For clearing a sewer drain, you need a sewer drain snake. With sewer drain snake your drain clog should be cleared in a few minutes.
